Our Approach & Ethos

What we believe & how we work

Travel is changing. Attitudes are changing and a sustainable approach to appreciating our natural world is, very rightly, coming to the forefront of peoples minds. This is an approach we embody completely, and the future protection of Africa’s wild spaces and cultural traditions drives us forward. We want everyone we take on safari or even just talk to about safaris to feel this ethos and be inspired, adopting the same passion for Africa that we have. Our business partners, suppliers, camps and lodges are carefully selected with this sustainable conservation ethos at the heart of our partnerships.

We believe we can help create the next generation of ‘Africaphiles’ and conservationists, inspired to get involved with the conservation of nature and culture in Africa through the direct benefits of their safari, and through philanthropic and charitable contributions.

Having worked in all different parts of the safari industry, we are acutely conscious of how costs can mount, particularly when hidden charges and fees are added by unscrupulous operators. We do not add anything extra on top of the cost of the trip. We believe that a fair cost of a safari to our travellers is that which is dictated by the lodges and camps actually running the operations in the wild spaces of Africa, who in turn, directly pass this on to their own staff and conservation efforts for surrounding areas. This approach encourages people to recognise the value in the experiences and adventures we plan, and as a result encourages them to travel to Africa again and contribute further to the preservation of wild spaces, anti-poaching operations, sustainable camp operations and the local staff and their extended families. This tangible, direct benefit to the people most closely involved with the wild spaces we love is what drives us. Any money made out of travels to such special, fragile places should go back into protecting them for future generations and into concerted efforts to protect the widlife we travel to these places to witness.

We have developed an excellent working relationship and partnership with a similarly focussed company, Epic Private Journeys, to help facilitate the incredible adventures that we plan and guide. Partnering with Epic provides an established booking platform as they have been operating extremely high quality adventures around the globe for over 20 years. It also means a collaboration between the safari experience and expertise we have can be combined with that of Epic’s experts, and this has resulted in some truly exceptional, uniquely tailored safaris.

Testimonials

My husband and I recently returned from a trip to East Africa, arranged for us by Jungle and Savannah. We had the most wonderful time!

Their expertise in laying out our itinerary, and arrangements was impeccable! Thanks to their knowledge and experience, we were thrilled with each location that we visited, enabling us to enjoy the wildlife, as well as the culture of these beautiful countries.

The guides, accommodations and travel arrangements were all fabulous! We enjoyed a mix of canvas tents and lodges, each with their own unique personality and natural beauty. This involved several moves throughout Kenya and Tanzania, and all of our travel connections went flawlessly!

Their communication with us in preparation, for the trip was so helpful! From completing visa applications, to packing lists to recommending unique stops along the way, they were immensely patient and generous with their time, answering all of our questions, and making us feel completely prepared to go! And they continued to be in touch with us along the way, always available to provide guidance.

We are so grateful to the Jungle and Savannah team for this fabulous experience, and cannot wait to get our next African journey planned!
